Tbilisi State Medical University is a partner institution in the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project HERD (Raising Research Capacity of Georgian HEIs through Developing R&D Units, project # 598207-EPP-1-2018-1-GE-EPPKA2-CBHE-SP). The project aims to upgrade the research capacity of Georgian universities through developing the R&D units within the target universities.
Project objectives:
- Establish a joint research platform that would facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of research activities in the target universities.
- Create an Online Georgian Research Portal that will display the state-of-the art information on the research activities, human resources and infrastructure of the academic institutions in Georgia.
- Upgrade the research management and data analysis skills of university administrative personnel for producing high quality research management, analyzing institutional research data and providing ground for further forecasting and strategic planning.
- Enhance the capacity of the target universities in respect to research transfer and university-industry collaboration.
Anticipated results of the project:
- Establishment or modernization of R&D units at the target universities through increasing their capacity to manage research and monitor quality of the research products
- Development of national research management platform, Georgian Research Portal
- Trained staff for research management with respective data analysis skills
- Optimization of research capacity of Georgian HEIs in various disciplines
- Set ground for institutional cooperation in Georgia and internationally
- Extension of the visibility of Georgia in international context
