Tbilisi State Medical University Student Self-Government is a representative body of the university, with independent structural units and governing bodies. Tbilisi State Medical University Student Self-Government implements its authority in compliance with the Law of Georgia on Higher Education and the charter of the Tbilisi State Medical University, both inside and outside the university.
Within the framework of its authority, the goal of Tbilisi State Medical University Student Self-Government is to protect and represent the rights and legal interests of the students, to support students in realization their rights, to help them receive quality education, to create environment for students’ leisure and work and to diversify the students’ life. As a consequence, the team plans and develops various educational-scientific, social, cultural and sport activities.
The projects are developed according to the students’ requests. The students are given the opportunity to participate and develop any project relevant to their desires. The current team is focused on development of diverse social and cognitive projects. Within the framework of the project the team managed to finance students’ tuition fees, offer the students receive free clinical services and information about topics they are interested in. TSMU Student Self-Government cooperates with local and international state, non-governmental organizations and charities. Collaboratively the team develops mega projects.
I think Student Self-Government is one of the greatest experiences for students. A student expands his/her network, develops self-confidence, team working and organizational skills. It also reinforces self-realization and competitiveness in the labor market. The students are given the opportunity to get acquaintance with areas completely different from each other making their student life even more memorable. Any student is given a chance to become a member of the team, the key is desire and diligence.
